The National Recreation and Park Association's Playground Maintenance Course is a one-day (6.25 hour) educational course that provides participants with an understanding of basic playground hazards, applying safe maintenance practices on equipment, identifying surfacing types and proper maintenance procedures, and establishing proper record keeping practices. Participants receive a certificate upon completion of the Playground Maintenance Course.

Brian McKenna is a seasoned parks and recreation professional with over 30 years of experience in facility operations, capital project management, and staff leadership. He is a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) and Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI), and serves as a national instructor for NRPA’s Playground Maintenance Course. Brian also volunteered his time to help develop a mobile playground inspection app now used nationwide to enhance safety and maintenance practices across public play environments.
Who Should Enroll?
Professionals who should take the course include maintenance staff, recreation staff, university seniors and any individuals who are responsible for playgrounds.
